Pointing Dog Clubhouse

Sheffield

Completed: January, 1970

Service: Interior Design

Client: Pointing Dog Group

Size: £1.5million

Self Architects have designed and delivered The Pointing Dog Clubhouse, the flagship venue of the group. The former landmark Polish ex-servicemen’s club has been sympathetically refurbished and extended to create a ‘Clubhouse’ for socialising and dining. The extensive additions included the demolition and rebuilding of a single storey extension to the rear for the kitchens and a new single storey pitched roof extension providing a dramatic dinning space with its high-pitched ceiling.

The existing bar wing has been remodelled exposing the roof soffit and it has been opened up with floor to ceiling glazed concertina windows. The 1st floor has been refurbished to provide private dinning rooms, with an additional bar. The front courtyard and approach have been redesigned to create extensive outside seating and a generous entrance approach from the street.
